Queen Sophias association badge for the support of the medical service of the army and navy. The Queen was inspired by Florence Nightingale and started in 1884 a home for nurses. The Queen payed for the four nurses education. In 1887 the King and Queen opened the first hospital and school for nurses, the Sophia home. The nurses were trained to assist in case of war. In 1915 the association was absorbed into the Red Cross.
