Hungary – Order of Merit for Excellent Service

Description

With Act V of 1953, the Hungarian Parliament established an award called Merit Medal for Outstanding Service “to recognize the merits achieved in the service and promotion of the interests of the Hungarian People’s Republic” for the members of the armed forces.

In 1954, the shape of the badges was changed, and in 1957, the Hungarian People’s Republic’s coat of arms in the badge was also changed.

In 1964, the name of the award was changed to the Order of Merit for Excellent Service, and it became possible to award it to civilians as well.
