Description
The Icelandic Order of the Falcon was instituted on 3 July 1921 by King Christian X of Denmark and of Iceland. Iceland became an independent republic on 17 June 1944.
The order may be awarded to both Icelandic citizens and foreigners for services to Iceland and to mankind. The Star, an eight-point silver star of alternating smooth and faceted rays, the obverse medallion presents the Icelandic falcon on a blue enamelled field, the reverse features a dual pronged vertical pin, with the hallmarks KÁ 925S, Kjartan Ásmundsson, goldsmiths of Reykjavík.
