Description
The helmet was made of black lacquered leather, the front plate, back rail, fittings and chinstrap were gilded. For officers, the coat of arms were blue enamelled and gilt, for sergeants and enlisted the fittings are only gilt.
Officers also wear a yellow silk cockade to the right of the chinstrap button and the enlisted men had the company number on the left side of the helmet. This helmet was used by Scanian-, Norrlands dragoons (m/1886) and also by the fortification (m/1894).
This particularly helmet was made by CJM Fyrwald, Copenhagen, Denmark, which is quite rare. Headgear was made by Fyrwald for the the Swedish army but mainly Hussar caps and other soft type of headgear but helmets very rarely.
