Sweden – St. Erik’s Medal

Medal named after Saint Eric (Swedish king in the 12th century, c. 1156–1160.) Stockholm city’s symbolic patron.

Since 1938, the municipal board has awarded the St. Erik’s Medal to Stockholm residents who, through their activities or efforts, are considered deserving of such an award from the city. The first St Erik’s medal awardees were city hall architect Ragnar Östberg and bank manager Knut Wallenberg.

 

Decisions about who will be awarded the medal are made by the municipal board and every year on May 18, the St. Erik’s Medal is awarded in Stockholm City Hall. The medal consists of 925 Silver and stamped MJV SILVER (Royal Stockholm Mint).

This Silver St. Erik’s medal was awarded the Stockholm resident Sven Eriksson who made his worthy deeds as skilled cement worker in 1965.
