USSR – Order of the Red Banner # 296575

Description

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 45.14 mm in height, 37.25 mm in width and it weighs 26.0 grams without its suspension. The serial number and curved mint mark are located at the 6 o’clock position of its reverse.

In really nice, much above average condition( near mint) with very light wear to the raised parts like the center wreath. Most details are visible and both sides show several minor dings and scratches. The red and white enamels are generally very well preserved and without repairs, but shows some flaking and several minor chips in the centre star.

There are no repairs on the connection ring and the ring has not been cut, the order comes with its excellent time period double layer steel suspension.

The Order of the Red Banner recognized military deeds. Before the establishment of the Order of Lenin, the order functioned as the highest (and practically the only) military order of the USSR. Practically all well-known Soviet commanders became Cavaliers of this Order.

 Also awarded to NKVD personnel.
