A rare Royal Patriotic Society medal Gustav V in gold, (gilt bronze)
On the medals rim the inscription states: “Guldet till Finland” meaning. “The gold to Finland”.
The recipient usually received the medal in gold but during WWII the recipient could choose to donate his gold to the war effort in Finland. Sweden and Finland has very strong ties since Finland belonged to Sweden until 1809. Many Swedes volunteered in the Finnish army during WWII. The medal is engraved with the recipients name on the reverse “E. A. Andersson”
